Are You Trying To Seduce Me?

"She walked into the room-
On the arm of my best friend.
I knew whatever happened-
our friendship would end."- Sting

Finished her up last night. Think I may try
three more like this and frame 'em.
This piece was really inspired by an L.A.
painter named Audrey Kawasaki. I can't touch
her with a ten foot paint brush, but her work
is so hauntingly beautiful that it inspired
this pale mimicry. Check her site out for
some REAL artwork.

I'll leave this up for awhile...Hope you enjoy it.

Glenn -

Really, truly, excellent. Great work! Love the background.

And thanks for the link to Audrey Kawasaki's site...some amazing, fantastic work there..and she seems so young!! Those large paintings or curled up figures done for 'class' (where you see her standing amongst them) are stuning..very Klimt like (or Kent Williams like). And she's cute, too!

adriana, hmmm?
is it the bedroom eyes?
is it the pneumatic lips?
is it because it actually is Adriana Lima?
thanks FS!

How did you get her to sit for you? Is Michelle OK with this?

well eric,
i won the victoria's secret "million dollar
diamond-encrusted special edition speedo"
(I just read the catalog for the articles, I swear!)
and adriana agreed to come to the winner's
house and pose with the lucky banana hammock
wearing shmuck. I figure the mental imagery's
enough so I'll spare you a sketch of me in it.

Ooh ooh - try doing the next two vertically maybe. You know, a midriff to top of VS undies and thighs to feet. You know how the catalog hints at the sexuality of beuatiful women? Ok, it clobbers you with it. Anyway - this way it focusses on the beauty of the woman and only hints at the overpriced over commercialized lingerie. And there just aren't enough vertical panels out there, you know? It's all landscapes in the dentist's office.

Sorry, man. This is kind of like yelling, "Freebird!" isn't it.

Damn it I wish I could draw.

Oh, and it's great, by the way. I realize I didn't say that yet.

OK, so Jake is 13 and a month or so now. So, you know, he's almost ready for Stripes. And I think he's seen Caddyshack on USA. It won't be long before he's ready for The Big Lebowski.

Anyway - I printed this picture out to show Rachel and Jake. They both thought it was beautiful. And I was going to put it on my desk with the dozens of other miscellaneous papers on my desk that I can't throw away and can't figure out where to file when I thought to ask Jake, "Do you want this to put up in your room?"

I don't know how to describe the look on his face. His answer was affirmative, but it was more than that. And it's going to be tacked on his wall right next to a birthday card you drew for him when he was 10 or so - the one with Spiderman.

Anyway - here's the short conversation Rachel and I had right after I he said he wanted it:

R: (Looks at me with raised eyebrow) I think we just gave our son...

E: What?

R: Um...

E: Spank material?

R: Exactly.

Oh how I wish he could stay at the age when Spiderman was the coolest thing ever and Kirsten Dunst was just icky. That would make me about 34, which is just fine with me.

Anyway - just know that your drawing passes the 13 year old spank test.
