Oh from sweet.....to deranged?" - The Black Keys
i was doodling my daughter on a grocery list and my wife thought
it was worth saving so i figured it's worth posting...the style reminds
me of Rick Geary, a comic book illustrator who i got to meet
through my college mentor program....it may be the way i want to
approach the look of this still percolating "book" i've yet to draw...

I love Rick Geary! His stuff was a big influence on me back in the day...this drawing looks great!

That's a good idea. I would say go with that whole circle thing you hand drew back in the day, but it would take too long to finish a book.
Here's a thought - take a Saturday and lay out as much of your portfolio as you can spanning your entire career with special emphasis on the earliest stuff. Then look at it all. Take some time. Try to notice any partcular style that sticks out in your free time drawing and hints of your own style in your commercial work.
Your hand lies in that space somewhere. Find it and get on that book.
Also, did I mention my friend Mike the MFCC wants to work with us on a kid's book. He has the ideas from case studies and wants someone with talent to draw and write it up. At least with you, we'll have the drawing talent. And kids mostly look at the pictures anyway, so that takes all the pressure off of me.
hey staci!- word up! but she's always been ahead of the curve...
justin- you'd be pleased to know that he's a gentleman in life and owns a kickass 2bedroom
overlooking union square park...check this page for the master:

e-dog- the above post came so naturally this is
prolly the closest thing to "my style" as it gets.
(what's a MFCC? i'm guessing he's a "Mother
Fucking County Clerk?" but i could be completely off there.)
Thanks for the link...! Have you been up to said 2 bedroom?...Almost picked up a beautiful splash pagefrom Geary's Blanche Goes to Paris on Ebay, but didn't go high enough ta win! It was sweet, though.
